A drug screening Consortium/Third Party Administrator (c/TPA) manage all or part of an employer’s drug and alcohol testing program, sometimes including maintaining required test records. We perform tasks as agreed to by the employer to assist in implementing the drug and alcohol testing program and to help keep the employer compliant with the regulations of the governing agency.
Individual employers join together, as a single entity, for the purpose of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and/or for Texas Department of License and Registration (TDLR) drug and alcohol testing of its members. The member companies add their employees to a combined random testing pool. The employees are randomly selected for drug and alcohol testing per the regulations of the governing agency.
Supervisor Training
Employers must provide training to all persons who supervise drivers subject to the regulations, in accordance with §382.603. The purpose of this training is to enable supervisors to determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require a driver to undergo testing described in §382.307. It must include at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and 60 minutes on controlled substances use (120 minutes total).
The purpose of this training is to teach supervisors to identify circumstances and indicators that may create reasonable suspicion that a driver is using or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, supporting the referral of an employee for testing. Owner-operators are not subject to DOT supervisor training.
